Supreme Court Won’t Hear Chris Hedges’ Indefinite Detention Case
Here he is, with the extraordinary cartoonist Mr. Fish —
— a few days ago, speaking at a college in Connecticut about the very specific and, as he points out, “insane,” culture of war and how it intersects with the “Have a nice day” culture propagated in America.
“We are a culture utterly awash in lies. . . When you make a frontal assault on that propaganda, you are almost destined to lose. That’s why the suicide rate is so high. Because not only do [veterans] have to cope with what they’ve done, they have to cope with the fact that nobody wants to hear their repentence. And it’s not just their repentence, it’s our repentence.”
